Many of you may know that John is officially retiring from his pastoral ministry here at Cordova Lutheran Church, Rancho Cordova, CA at the end of January, 2018, having served this congregation, his first call, since 2000. The congregation could not let this event go without some special event celebrating his faithful ministry at CLC.
The congregation is hosting a special event on Sunday, February 18, 2018 in the late afternoon and evening. A brief Service of Thanksgiving and Appreciation (30 minutes) will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary at 10400 Coloma Road, Rancho Cordova, followed by a buffet dinner and program at the nearby Hagan Community Center (2197 Chase Drive, Rancho Cordova) at 6:00 p.m. District President Robert Newton will serve as homilist for this brief service, and Pastor Tom Zelt will be a featured speaker during the dinner program, recounting John’s life in Crescent City, John’s pastor then, his encouragement for John to consider the pastoral ministry and what’s history since then, including their personal and professional involvements to date.
Pastor and wives who would like to participate in this retirement event are asked to contact Pastor Paul Janke, emeritus, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 916-216-6984, if you would be interested in attending. Dinner cost is $20 per person. Upon notification, an invitation memo will be sent to you, with a reply card, and your enclosed check to be made out to Cordova Lutheran Church to cover dinner costs, to be returned no later than February 8, 2018 to the church office.
Well wishes, in any form, are welcomed.
