Those of you who are on Facebook have probably already seen this. For those of you who have not, this past Monday I received a divine call to serve as an Assistant Professor of Pastoral Ministry and Missions at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I would be teaching homiletics, pastoral care and counseling, pastoral theology and other things as need arises. I would also teach Field Education II and serve as the Director of Vicarage.
Below you will find a link to the letter I wrote to my congregation upon receipt of the Call.
I don’t know what all of this means quite yet. I am, frankly, still in a bit of shock over the whole thing. It is (as I indicated in my letter) pretty likely that I will take it. If that is the case, then Circuits 4 & 19 will need to elect a new “Pooh Bah” to serve as coordinator and scheduler, etc. Probably the most immediate need will be planning the fall Meyers Retreat on September 13-15.
If any of you have any counsel for more, I would be very happy to receive it. At coffee yesterday, there was talk about having some kind of farewell dinner before I go. So stay tuned on what that might look like.
